[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] The SeAH Haeam Academic Scholarship Foundation announced on the 3rd that it has selected 75 students for the 29th term of scholarship recipients.
This year, considering the financial burdens on families due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, the foundation selected a total of 75 students for the 29th term, including the usual 30 scholarship recipients chosen through the standard screening process, plus 7 children from multicultural families recommended by related organizations, 20 children of fallen military and police officers, 10 children of North Korean defectors, and 8 foreign students studying in Korea. This number is more than double compared to last year.
The selection of scholarship recipients this time reflected a regular selection plan for students who have suffered economic damage due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic. In particular, foreign students studying at domestic universities were included as scholarship recipients with the aim of nurturing future talents who will lead the international community in the global era.
Lee Soon-hyung, Chairman of the SeAH Haeam Academic Scholarship Foundation, conveyed to the scholarship recipients, "I hope that the connection of being selected as a SeAH scholarship student will be a small source of strength for you to pursue your studies with courage and pride."
The SeAH Haeam Academic Scholarship Foundation receives applications every year from university students struggling to cover tuition fees, conducts a fair screening process, and selects scholarship recipients. In December last year, it additionally selected 100 university students facing significant difficulties in paying tuition due to COVID-19 and provided special scholarships.
