[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yuseong Hoon) held a meeting at 5 p.m. on the 2nd in the small conference room of the district office to revitalize the local commercial district.

The meeting was attended by Mayor Yuseong Hoon and the presidents of six traditional markets and shopping districts in Geumcheon-gu: ‘Nammun Market’, ‘Bidan-gil Hyundai Market’, ‘Eunhaengnamu Market’, ‘Daemyeong Yeoulbit Street’, ‘Doksan-dong Usijang’, and ‘Doksan-dong Matnaneun Street Shopping District’.

On this day, Mayor Yuseong Hoon and the presidents discussed market-specific pending projects including ▲Nammun Market ‘Arcade Repair’ ▲Bidan-gil Hyundai Market ‘Customer Parking Lot and Restroom Installation’ ▲Daemyeong Yeoulbit Street Market ‘Expansion of Non-Face-to-Face Delivery Service Business through Joint Center Promotion’ ▲Doksan-dong Usijang ‘Asbestos Removal and Crosswalk Installation’ ▲Eunhaengnamu Market ‘Expansion of Broadcasting Facilities and CCTV’ ▲Doksan-dong Matnaneun Street ‘Solving Parking Issues and Attracting Entertainment Venues such as Baseball Stadium’.

They then explored ways to revitalize traditional markets, such as ‘support for non-face-to-face delivery service business’ and ‘support for parking lot and restroom installation’, to help traditional markets struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.

The presidents said, “The prolonged COVID-19 pandemic has been very difficult for traditional markets and shopping districts, but having an opportunity to share difficulties and seek solutions together with the district office gives us hope,” and added, “The merchants will actively cooperate with the district office’s traditional market projects and do their best to revitalize the local commercial district.”

Mayor Yuseong Hoon of Geumcheon-gu said, “We will closely cooperate with the relevant departments to promote long-term tasks such as solving parking problems in traditional markets,” and added, “We will actively support the rapid changes in traditional markets in line with the post-COVID-19 era so that the foundation of the local economy can be revived.”
