Low-Carbon Practice Hub 'Seodaemun Dubakwi Environment Center' Opens on the 4th 'Seodaemun Two-Wheel Environmental Center' (111 Hongjecheon-ro) opening at 2 PM on the 4th

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Mun Seok-jin) will hold various commemorative events on the 4th and 5th under the catchphrase "Together for a Green Future" to mark "Environment Day" (June 5).

From 2 PM to 4 PM on the 4th, the opening ceremony of the "Seodaemun Two-Wheel Environmental Center" (111 Hongjecheon-ro), which will serve as a hub for citizen environmental education and low-carbon practice, and a forum titled "Carbon Neutrality Achieved Together with the Local Community" will be held consecutively.

The opening ceremony will proceed with minimal attendance to maintain social distancing and will include activities at the center and nearby Hongjecheon such as ▲handkerchief cutting ▲climate crisis emergency response declaration ▲throwing soil balls for river cleanup ▲and the opening of a newly constructed pedestrian bridge connecting Hongnamgyo Bridge and the Two-Wheel Environmental Center.

At the forum held at the Seodaemun Two-Wheel Environmental Center, panelists including Jeong Da-woon, CEO of the plastic-free caf? "Bottle Factory" practicing zero waste, Ma Eun-hee, director of Dobong Environmental Education Center, and Mun Seok-jin, mayor of Seodaemun-gu, will discuss the local community's practices and efforts toward carbon neutrality.

From 1 PM to 2:30 PM on the 5th, the "Climate Environment Golden Bell," where families solve environment-related quizzes together to empathize and communicate, will take place. About 50 families who applied last month will participate via the online video conferencing program Zoom.

This event will be broadcast live through Seodaemun-gu Office's video sharing service (YouTube).

Also, on the 4th and 5th, around 30 award-winning works from the "2020 Environmental Conservation Drawing and Writing Contest" will be exhibited inside and outside the Seodaemun Two-Wheel Environmental Center, and a "2050 Carbon Neutral Photo Zone" will be operated.

Especially, citizens who take photos at the photo zone will have their pictures printed on the spot, and if they share these certification shots on SNS to participate in spreading environmental conservation awareness, they will receive souvenirs.

Mayor Mun Seok-jin said, "I hope the Environment Day commemorative events will serve as an opportunity to raise awareness of the climate crisis and the will to practice eco-friendly low-carbon living, and I ask for active participation through the Seodaemun-gu Office YouTube live broadcast."
