[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Lotte World Tower tenant companies announced on the 3rd that they have planned a new non-face-to-face social contribution project called ‘The Maru’ in a situation where face-to-face volunteer activities are difficult due to COVID-19.
The Maru is a resource circulation program in which Lotte World Tower collaborates with Beautiful Store to collect personal item donations from employees of tenant companies working in the tower throughout June. A Beautiful Store booth is set up in the east lobby on the first floor of the tower and operates on weekdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The project involved about 2,000 employees from nine companies including Lotte Property & Development, Yuhan-Kimberly, Descente Korea, Takeda Korea, Dshare, UKC Carriers, E8, APR, and Wanted Lab.
Anyone, including employees of tenant companies and citizens, can participate in the item donation program. Donors can enter their information and donated items directly by scanning a QR code with their smartphones on site, and submit them after inspection by volunteers. Donors receive a donation receipt for their personal donated items, which can be used for income tax deductions during year-end tax settlement.
A representative from Lotte Property & Development said, “We felt the need for non-face-to-face volunteer activities that employees can participate in during the COVID-19 situation,” and added, “We are grateful that all the companies participating in The Maru have come together with one heart and mind.”
