[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jin-young] On the 3rd, Lee Kwang-jae, a presidential candidate from the ruling party and member of the Democratic Party of Korea, agreed to establish policy cooperation with Jo Jung-hoon, member of the Transition Korea party, to resolve polarization. They emphasized that this would be realized through constitutional amendment.
Lee and Jo held a press conference at the National Assembly that morning and stated, "We will clearly define the state's obligation to resolve polarization and improve the quality of life of the people through constitutional amendment."
Lee explained the necessity of constitutional amendment, saying, "The economic democratization clause in Article 119 of the current constitution cannot solve the deepening polarization problem," and "A new constitution that includes the state's obligation to resolve polarization is needed."
He added, "Furthermore, the right to happiness of the people must be made clearer," emphasizing, "The right to pursue happiness in Article 10 of the constitution should be expanded to the right to guarantee happiness."
