Submission of Nominations for the 30th Mapo-gu Resident Award Candidates

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Mapo-gu (Mayor Yoo Dong-gyun) is seeking nominations for the ‘30th Mapo-gu Citizen Award’ to discover citizens who have devoted themselves to the development of the local community across various fields and have made significant contributions to the advancement of Mapo, in order to foster pride and honor.

Since 1992, the district has selected and awarded recipients of the Citizen Award to encourage citizens (and organizations) who have quietly worked for regional development behind the scenes.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Citizen Award, which will be presented to a total of seven recipients?one in each of the seven categories: Culture Award, Sports Award, Brave Citizen Award, Honorable Parent Award, Filial Piety and Good Deeds Award, Volunteer Award, and Regional Development Award.

Nominees must be citizens or organizations residing in Mapo-gu for more than three years as of the announcement date (June 1, 2021) and have contributed to citizen harmony or regional development in their respective fields.

Nominations can be made by submitting a recommendation letter signed by heads of institutions or organizations, school principals, at least two Mapo-gu council members, or more than 30 citizens, along with related documents to the Mapo-gu Autonomous Administration Division or the relevant community service center.

Documents to be submitted with the recommendation letter include a record of achievements, one photograph, a consent form for personal information collection, and a consent form for the Citizen Award. For more details, please refer to the notices on the Mapo-gu website or contact the Mapo-gu Autonomous Administration Division.

After receiving nominations by June 30, the final recipients will be decided through a fact-finding investigation and the Mapo-gu Citizen Award screening committee.

The award ceremony is scheduled to take place in October, but the schedule may change depending on the COVID-19 situation.

Additionally, recipients of the Citizen Award will have their names inscribed in the Hall of Honor located in the lobby of Mapo-gu Office to commemorate their contributions to the community.

Mayor Yoo Dong-gyun of Mapo-gu said, “If there are unsung heroes who have devoted themselves to overcoming the COVID-19 crisis and serving the local community, I ask everyone to take an interest and actively recommend them.”
