From 2011 to 2020 (excluding 2014), Best Pledge Evaluation for 9 Years... Minseon 7th Term Achieves Top Grade for 3 Consecutive Years
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Park Kyum-soo) has been honored with the highest grade (SA) in this year's evaluation of the fulfillment of campaign pledges and information disclosure among nationwide basic local government heads during the 7th term of direct elections.
This marks the seventh consecutive year of achievement since the pledge fulfillment evaluation began in 2015.
Accordingly, the district has been recognized for best fulfilling its pledges nine times from 2011 to 2020, except for 2014. The 7th term of direct elections also recorded the highest grade for three consecutive years.
This evaluation was conducted nationwide targeting basic local government heads from March under the supervision of the Korea Manifesto Practice Headquarters. The Manifesto Evaluation Team assessed ▲pledge completion ▲goal achievement ▲resident communication ▲web communication ▲pledge consistency, dividing the results into five grades from SA to D. The district scored over 70 points overall, earning the highest grade.
Since the launch of the 7th term, the district has actively promoted 101 individual projects such as ‘Healing Historical and Cultural Tourism City’ and ‘Attractive Development City.’ It completed 74 projects including the expansion of Balraegol-gil road, reinstallation of Beolli Bridge and Gyesong Bridge over Ui Stream, and expansion of parking lots at the Transportation Plaza, producing visible results that improved residents’ quality of life in various fields.
This year, the district is steadily progressing in seven areas including development, environment, history and culture, safety, education, and welfare. In particular, it is striving to create a ‘Hopeful Gangbuk’ by expanding the Ui-dong family camping site, establishing the Jindallae urban agriculture experience center and an international-scale artificial rock climbing wall, and revitalizing urban regeneration.
Mayor Park Kyum-soo of Gangbuk-gu said, “This evaluation is the result of being recognized as a leader in pledge fulfillment that prioritizes promises made to residents,” adding, “Based on the trust built with residents through participation and communication, we will enhance the completeness of pledge fulfillment and successfully complete the remaining term.”
