On the 2nd (local time), SamMobile reported this by citing Ice Universe, an IT tipster's social media account on Weibo. Ice Universe also released a rendering image.
The new Galaxy Z Flip is estimated to have significantly reduced weight and thickness compared to the previous model, enhancing portability. The cover display will be enlarged, and the bezel will be made thinner, under 3.8mm. A metal frame will be applied, but the metallic properties will not be prominently noticeable.
There is also speculation that Samsung is striving to address the design drawbacks of the series, as the foldable panel of the previous model was visually prominent. It is said that such considerations will be reflected in the new product.
Earlier, foreign media including SamMobile predicted that the retail price would be lowered. The new Galaxy Z Flip's retail price is expected to be in the low 1,000,000 KRW range, more than 500,000 KRW lower than the previous model. The previous model's retail price was 1,650,000 KRW.
The Galaxy Unpacked event, where Samsung Electronics unveils new products, is expected to be held between early and mid-August, similar to the existing Galaxy Note schedule. Galaxy Unpacked is an event that attracts attention every year and has expanded from smartphones to include the Galaxy A series, and recently, the first laptop Unpacked event was also held.
