Development of a 210,000㎡ Section from Sadang Station to Isu Station as a Key Hub in Southwest Seoul

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Chang-woo Lee) announced on the 3rd that it has begun promoting the 'Sadang·Isu District Unit Plan Reorganization' to establish an efficient urban management plan for the Sadang-dong area (Sadang Station to Isu Station).

The section for reorganization covers 207,120㎡ from Sadang Station to Isu Station. Prior to this, the district passed the 'Seoul City District Unit Plan Preliminary Feasibility Review' in August last year, laying the groundwork for the reorganization of the district unit plan.

The main reorganization initiatives include ▲establishing an urban management plan foundation for youth housing and revitalization of station areas ▲designating small- and medium-sized special planning zones considering regional characteristics ▲applying incentive measures to encourage autonomous development.

In particular, the district plans to promote region-customized development suited to local conditions and expand insufficient living service facilities such as parking lots.

Since last month, the district has started the reorganization project, aiming to prepare a basic concept plan by next year, gather residents' opinions, and finalize the district unit plan decision (or amendment) through the Seoul City Urban and Architectural Joint Committee review by the first half of 2023.

For more detailed information regarding this project, inquiries can be made to the Urban Planning Division.

Lee Eui-shin, head of the Urban Planning Division, stated, “Through this Sadang·Isu District Unit Plan reorganization, we will do our best to foster the Sadang-dong area as a representative center of Seoul’s southwest region, in connection with the Seoul City’s ongoing ‘Southwest Region Central Area Development Plan.’”
