[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Junhee) is accepting online participants in advance through the district website for the ‘Gwanak Family Happiness Center Opening Ceremony’ to be held at 3 p.m. on the 23rd.

The ‘Gwanak Family Happiness Center’ is the district’s first family cultural complex facility. After breaking ground in June 2019, despite difficulties such as construction halts due to COVID-19 and severe winter cold waves, the district pushed forward with construction with a single-minded dedication to improving residents’ family welfare, and is finally approaching its opening.

The facility is located near Nangok Intersection at 1491 Nambusunhwan-ro (Sinsa-dong), with a total floor area of 3,999.8㎡, built with 2 basement floors and 6 above-ground floors. In March, the name ‘Gwanak Family Happiness Center’ was selected through a public naming contest involving residents.

Floors 1 to 4 of the center will house play experience halls, toy and infant libraries, and childcare facilities such as “I-rang” for infants and toddlers. The 5th floor will have various employment and start-up program rooms including cooking and baking for women with career interruptions. The 6th floor will be a village media center with a one-person media room and studio room, planning to operate diverse programs.

To prevent the spread of COVID-19 and comply with quarantine rules, the opening ceremony will minimize the number of attendees and also hold an online ceremony open to everyone.

Celebrating the successful opening, performances filled with the dreams of children and residents, an unveiling ceremony, ribbon cutting, and facility tours will be conducted simultaneously offline and online in real time using the ZOOM program.

The online opening ceremony can be attended by pre-registration until the 12th. Residents of Gwanak-gu who wish to participate can apply through the Gwanak-gu Office website (Participation/Reservation → Participation Application → Lecture/Event Reservation).

For more details, please refer to the website or contact the Women and Family Division.

Mayor Park Junhee said, “With the successful establishment of a family cultural complex facility where infants, families, and residents can all enjoy together, the lives of Gwanak families have become richer. We ask for much interest and active participation in the online opening ceremony as the first step to creating a space where all residents can recharge their vitality in life.”
