[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] POSCO Chemical is carrying out various volunteer activities with its employees in celebration of POSCO Global Model Citizen Week.

From June 1 to 8, POSCO Chemical is operating a special volunteer period under the theme "Raising the Temperature of Hope, Lowering the Temperature of the Earth" in celebration of POSCO Global Model Citizen Week. 'Global Model Citizen Week' is a special volunteer week during which all POSCO Group employees at home and abroad voluntarily engage in various sharing activities for local communities. It has been held annually since 2010.

This volunteer activity, conducted as environmental volunteer work to deliver hope to neighbors in need due to COVID-19 and to save the Earth, involves about 500 employees participating across five business sites nationwide, including Pohang, Gwangyang, Sejong, Gumi, and Seoul.

During this Global Model Citizen Week, POSCO Chemical commemorates Environment Day (June 5) by focusing on volunteer activities for local environmental cleanup and marine ecosystem conservation.

In Pohang, on June 1, about 70 employees including President Min Kyung-jun participated in marine waste collection volunteer work at Pohang Cheongnim Beach near the company. They also visited Songdo Pine Forest in Pohang to engage in pine forest cultivation activities and carried out environmental cleanup activities at Dogu Beach and Yeongildae Beach.

Employees in the Gwangyang area will also participate in environmental cleanup volunteer activities at Baedo Beach and Yulchon Songdo Ferry Dock to help create a cleaner local community. In Sejong, they will purchase quarantine supplies made by local welfare institutions for the disabled and deliver them to nearby elementary schools to assist neighbors in need due to COVID-19.

POSCO Chemical President Min Kyung-jun said, "I hope that the warm hearts of POSCO Chemical employees will be delivered to the local community through this Global Model Citizen Week activity," adding, "We will continue various efforts for carbon neutrality and local ecosystem conservation."
