[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] There are reports that Samsung Electronics' next-generation foldable smartphone, the 'Galaxy Z Fold3,' expected to be released in August, has entered production.
On the 1st (local time), IT specialized media SamMobile reported that Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold3 has started mass production in line with the August release schedule. However, the 'Galaxy Z Flip3,' which is expected to be released alongside the Galaxy Z Fold3, has not yet entered mass production but is also expected to begin production within a few days.
Due to the high price of foldable phones, the initial production volume of the Galaxy Z Fold3 is said to be about one-third of that of typical flagship smartphones such as the Galaxy S series. Nevertheless, Samsung Electronics expects the Galaxy Z Fold3 to achieve higher sales than its predecessor, the 'Galaxy Z Fold2.'
The Galaxy Z Fold3 is expected to feature a 6.2-inch cover display using a 120Hz Super AMOLED Infinity-O panel, and internally, a 7.5-inch foldable Super AMOLED display supporting a 120Hz refresh rate and QHD+ resolution is known to be used. Additionally, it is anticipated to be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 888 or Snapdragon 888+ processor, with 12GB or 16GB of RAM, and 256GB or 512GB of internal storage.
In terms of imaging, the cover display is expected to be equipped with a 10-megapixel selfie camera, a 16-megapixel under-display camera, and a 12-megapixel triple rear camera. It is also expected that all cameras will support 4K video recording at 60 frames per second (fps). Furthermore, a stylus pen (S Pen) is also presumed to be provided.
