[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] A COVID-19 cluster infection occurred at the Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance headquarters in Seocho-gu, Seoul, leading to the closure of the upper floors.

According to Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance on the 1st, more than 20 people have tested positive since the first confirmed case was reported on the 23rd floor of the headquarters building the previous day.

As epidemiological investigations and testing are ongoing, the number of confirmed cases may increase.

The building where the cluster infection occurred is one of the Samsung Seocho Town 3 buildings, exclusively used by Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance. On the previous day, Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance closed floors 19 and above, which share the same elevator as the infected floor, and took quarantine measures according to government instructions.

A Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance official stated, "The exact scale and route of infection have not yet been confirmed."
