[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Seo Dae-seok) announced on the 1st that it recently conducted the ‘Village Learning School Basic Literacy Education’ course.
This education was designed as an essential literacy course for 1st and 2nd year village activists selected in the meeting formation category of the ‘2021 Resident-led Good Village Making’ contest project, aiming to understand village community activities and share values, and to promote continuous village activities.
Seo-gu conducted a demand survey for village education targeting village activists in advance for systematic capacity-building education of village communities, and based on this, established an annual village education plan.
The education content was conducted in a three-session course consisting of ▲Understanding and cases of village communities and village activists ▲How to communicate with neighbors ▲Knowing our village and our alley.
According to the 2021 Village Learning School annual plan, ▲Basic course practical education of the Village Learning School ▲Growth courses (village media education, conflict management education, growth practical education) will also be promoted.

A Seo-gu official said, “We hope that the Village Learning School education course will serve as an opportunity to establish a mature village community culture,” and added, “We will provide continuous capacity-building education opportunities so that village activists can become the focal point of the village.”
