Elderly Siblings Who Died After Receiving Pfizer Vaccine... "Government Irresponsibility" 청와대 Petition

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Soyoung] An elderly sibling pair in their 80s and 90s who received the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine died one after another within a day, prompting the bereaved family to express their frustration and dissatisfaction with the government's follow-up measures.

On the 31st, a petition titled "My healthy mother suddenly passed away two days after receiving the COVID vaccine. My maternal uncle also passed away on the same day" was posted on the Blue House National Petition Board.

The petitioner, who identified themselves as the child of the deceased woman in her 80s, explained, "I am filing this national petition out of deep frustration and injustice. My mother, who is 83 years old this year, received her second Pfizer dose on May 20th, and just two days later, on May 23rd around 5 p.m., she suddenly went into cardiac arrest. She was treated in the emergency room and intensive care unit of a hospital in Cheongju but ultimately passed away on May 24th."

The petitioner wrote, "She was talking with our family in the car just moments before, but suddenly lost consciousness and collapsed. We performed emergency CPR and artificial respiration, called 119, and upon arrival at the hospital, requested all possible treatments, but she eventually passed away."

He appealed, "I cannot comprehend how someone who was perfectly fine just moments ago could suddenly die two days after the second Pfizer vaccine dose. It is extremely unfair and frustrating."

He continued, "We requested the hospital and public health center to report this as an adverse vaccine reaction, but they treated it as someone else's problem. The hospital said there was insufficient evidence to link the vaccine to the death and refused to report it as a vaccine adverse event. The public health center has neither conducted an emergency investigation nor taken any follow-up actions," expressing his anger.

He criticized, "The government is pushing vaccination aggressively, but even after deaths following vaccination, there has been no investigation, no prior warning or guidance about risks, and no appropriate compensation for the bereaved families. This irresponsible behavior continues unabated."

He also stated, "On the same day my mother passed away, her biological older brother in his 90s also suddenly died five days after receiving the Pfizer vaccine."

He pleaded, "Please, no more unjust deaths should occur. I ask the public to pay attention so that the government recognizes the seriousness of this issue and implements fundamental measures and appropriate compensation for the bereaved families."

Finally, he said, "I am not saying people should not get vaccinated unconditionally. But if someone who was so healthy suddenly dies two days after vaccination, shouldn't the country at least conduct a proper investigation and offer a moral apology?"
