Jang Yoon-sung, Seoul National University Professor, Appointed Principal Conductor of Bucheon Philharmonic Orchestra Professor Jang Yoon-sung, Seoul National University.


[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] Bucheon City announced on the 31st that conductor Yoonseong Jang (58) has been appointed as the 3rd permanent conductor of the Bucheon Philharmonic Orchestra. His term will be from June 1st to May 31st, 2024, lasting three years.


Conductor Yoonseong Jang majored in composition at Seoul National University College of Music and completed his conducting major at the graduate school of the same university. He obtained a diploma in conducting from the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. He has served as the permanent conductor of the Ulsan Philharmonic Orchestra, Changwon Philharmonic Orchestra, and Daejeon Philharmonic Orchestra. He is currently a professor of composition and conducting at Seoul National University College of Music.


Conductor Jang said, "The Bucheon Philharmonic Orchestra, which currently leads the domestic classical music scene, is at an important time preparing for its second leap along with the Bucheon Art Center, scheduled to open in 2023. We will satisfy audience demands with a diverse performance repertoire and develop citizen participation programs to hold concerts together with the citizens."


Bucheon Mayor Deokcheon Jang said, "I hope that the Bucheon Philharmonic, one of the nation's top orchestras, will lead well and wash away the weary hearts of citizens tired from COVID-19 with beautiful performances."


The inauguration concerts are scheduled for June 25th at 7:30 PM at the Bucheon Citizens Hall Grand Theater and June 30th at 8:00 PM at Lotte Concert Hall.
