Mesh Korea Participates in Innovative Logistics Experiment Using Robots & Drones "Applying Next-Generation Transportation"

Mesh Korea (CEO Jeongbeom Yoo), the operator of VROONG, an intelligent integrated distribution logistics brand, announced that it has been finally selected as a participating company in the government’s ‘2021 Digital Logistics Demonstration Complex Creation Support Project.’ Through this project, the company plans to apply next-generation transportation means such as robots and drones to VROONG’s IT-based logistics services to explore the feasibility of realizing more advanced digital logistics services.

The ‘Digital Logistics Demonstration Complex Creation Support Project,’ led by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, is a national project newly implemented this year to resolve urban logistics issues such as traffic congestion and safety accidents by realizing a digital logistics system. Among the participants, Mesh Korea aims to create a digital logistics innovation city using robot and drone delivery with support from Gimcheon City and Gyeongsangbuk-do in the ‘Digital Logistics Service Demonstration Support’ sector, collaborating with related organizations and companies to conduct various innovative logistics experiments.

Specifically, the project will demonstrate drone delivery between logistics centers and delivery destinations, as well as autonomous logistics robot delivery services targeting public buildings and officetels. The information derived will undergo big data analysis, and subsequently, simulations of various logistics processes will be conducted to establish an optimal digital transportation solution model. In particular, Mesh Korea will take a leading role in building a ‘Smart Food Storage Box’ by supporting partner organizations with big data collected during the demonstration of last-mile delivery services focused on food and beverages.

This demonstration is attracting attention as a catalyst for spreading more advanced digital logistics services nationwide. This is because the service can evolve from existing one-way logistics transportation to two-way logistics between regions based on digital technology. Additionally, by overcoming last-mile delivery hurdles through the linkage of ground robots following aerial transportation by drones, the possibility of establishing a next-generation smart logistics platform can also be anticipated.

Mesh Korea provides customized logistics services based on artificial intelligence (AI) and big data technologies. In particular, it shares key logistics data quickly and transparently with client companies throughout the process. Recently, through the establishment and aggressive expansion of micro-fulfillment centers (MFCs), which serve as urban logistics hubs, it has rapidly enhanced last-mile delivery capabilities within cities and is receiving continuous collaboration requests from logistics and related industries.

Especially, VROONG’s logistics process, based on big data and AI technologies, is recognized for its high value as a flexible integrated IT logistics platform that enables organic real-time linkage with existing transportation means such as two-wheelers, four-wheelers, bicycles, and electric kickboards, as well as the integration of next-generation transportation means.

Kim Myunghwan, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Mesh Korea, said, “Robots and drones capable of autonomous delivery in the logistics industry can replace tasks that logistics workers avoid due to harsh environments and provide high-level logistics services even to areas in logistics blind spots.” He added, “This will open opportunities for small business owners lacking capital to equally enjoy advanced last-mile logistics services.” He emphasized, “Mesh Korea will proactively respond to future transportation means and lead the establishment of next-generation logistics systems.”
