[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Seoyoung] Attorney Kwon Kyung-ae of the law firm Haemir voiced criticism regarding the memoir of former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk.
Attorney Kwon Kyung-ae of Haemir posted on her Facebook today (30th) a message containing the phrase, "'If it is still a political burden, then the Democratic Party should step on me and move forward'?" This is a quote from former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk introducing his memoir.
Attorney Kwon said, "At the beginning of the Cho Kuk incident, I told my friend, who is a friend of Cho Kuk and was worried that Cho Kuk might commit suicide, that he was absolutely not that kind of person, so not to worry." She added, "That friend was someone who went down together to pay respects at Bongha." This is interpreted as a reference to the precedent of former President Roh Moo-hyun.
She continued, "Honesty about the mistakes of family and close aides, the shame caused by the internal collapse of a life-like sense of honor, guilt toward political comrades and helpers, atonement for the impact of family and aides' mistakes on the future of progressivism, is there even one thing remotely similar?" she pointed out sharply. She also delivered strong criticism, saying, "Where is this imitation of Roh Moo-hyun and self-sanctification?"
Previously, former Dongyang University professor Jin Joong-kwon, who co-authored the so-called 'Cho Kuk Black Book' titled A Country Never Experienced Before with Attorney Kwon, also criticized the publication of former Minister Cho’s memoir. On the 29th, he shared an article reporting the release of Cho’s memoir and sarcastically commented, "Anyway, this friend (former Minister Cho)'s mentality is a subject of study," and "Should he write another book? The title could be 'The Time of Cho Kuk Experienced by the People.'"
