[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jeong Won-oh) is introducing a 'Traffic Notification System' that anyone can easily access at the civil service office and will begin full operation from June.
The 'Traffic Notification System' provides real-time information on the movement and arrival times of public transportation such as buses at bus stops and subway stations near the civil service office on the civil service office's IPTV screen. It offers detailed waiting times down to the second, as well as useful information frequently checked in daily life, such as weather and fine dust concentration.
The district established the system to improve transportation convenience for residents visiting civil service centers by public transportation. A total of 18 frequently visited civil service offices were selected, including the Seongdong-gu Office 1st floor Happy Civil Service Office, 16 community centers, and the Seongdong-gu Urban Management Corporation civil service office.
By allowing residents to check public transportation waiting status in advance at the civil service office, the inconvenience of checking transportation information one by one through smartphone apps or waiting by visiting bus stops directly is reduced, and waiting time can be utilized more effectively.
In particular, the large screen allows users to see the public transportation waiting status at a glance, which is expected to enhance convenience for elderly people who have difficulty using smartphone apps, according to district officials.
Last month, the district installed 'Smart Public Transportation Comprehensive Information Kiosks' around Wangsimni Square and the Five-way Intersection area to improve accessibility for transportation-vulnerable groups. It is continuously promoting proactive technological administration for traffic safety and convenience, including the 'Seongdong-type Smart Shelter' and 'Smart Crosswalk.'
Jeong Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, "We have made it easy for anyone to access traffic information through the civil service office traffic notification system," and added, "We will continue to enhance resident convenience and implement smart inclusive administration to ensure no one is left behind in technological development, realizing citizen satisfaction."
