[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyewon] SK Innovation's support for social enterprises has been highly rated by academia for its customized approach that meets the needs of beneficiary companies.
On the 28th, the Social Enterprise Society held a seminar at the Federation of Korean Industries building in Yeouido on the theme of "The Social Role and Social Value Creation of Social Enterprises in the Untact Era," announcing these findings.
The event was attended by member professors and researchers of the Social Enterprise Society, as well as representatives of leading social enterprises and expert groups, who discussed successful strategies for creating the role and value of social enterprises.
The main presenters were Choi Ihyun, CEO of More Than, and Byeon Uihyun, CEO of Usisan, both receiving support from SK Innovation, who each presented their success strategies. The society then analyzed SK Innovation's social enterprise support strategy through subsequent presentations and discussions.
Academia focused on SK Innovation's support program, which guarantees management rights without acquiring equity in social enterprises, provides initial funding to enable stable business operations, and assists in infrastructure areas that social enterprises find difficult to establish on their own.
SK Innovation continues to discover sustainable business models so that social enterprises can become self-reliant without future support, and carries out various support activities for independence. It also provides consulting utilizing the infrastructure of large corporations in areas such as promotion, finance, and legal affairs. Through this, it has helped many social enterprises grow, including More Than, Usisan, Grape Lab, and Cheonnyeon Nuri Jeonju Bread.
Im Sugil, Head of the Value Creation Center at SK Innovation, emphasized, "We will continue to provide unwavering support so that social enterprises can become self-reliant and create more social value, establishing a virtuous cycle."
