Dongguk University-KERIS Hold 'Humanities Strengthening Book Report Contest'



[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Dongguk University, in collaboration with the Korea Education and Research Information Service (KERIS) and Keimyung University, is hosting the "Humanities Strengthening Book Report Contest" for high school and university students until August 6.


Now in its third year, this book report contest was established to support the cultivation of humanities and foundational engineering liberal arts, human dignity, and communication skills necessary in the era of artificial intelligence (AI).


The contest is divided into two categories: the high school division for currently enrolled high school students, and the university division for undergraduate students at Dongguk University and Keimyung University. Participants select one recommended book from the list provided for their division, read it, write a book report, and submit it along with the application form via email.


Winners in the high school division will receive the Dongguk University President’s Award, the KERIS Director’s Award, and prizes including a grand prize (1 person) of 500,000 KRW, excellence awards (2 persons) of 300,000 KRW each, and encouragement awards (3 persons) of 200,000 KRW each. Winners in the university division will receive the respective university president’s award, the KERIS Director’s Award, and prizes including a grand prize (1 person) of 700,000 KRW, excellence awards (2 persons) of 500,000 KRW each, and encouragement awards (3 persons) of 300,000 KRW each.


For more details about the contest, high school participants can refer to the Reading Education and Humanities Education bulletin board on the Edunet website and the announcements on the Comprehensive Reading Education Support System of the 17 metropolitan and provincial offices of education. University applicants can find detailed information on the Dongguk University Central Library and Keimyung University Dongsan Library websites.
