'Outstanding Startups Gathered' Space Sallim & D.CAMP Hold 'Demo Day'

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Foundation of Women and Family ‘Space Sallim’ and the Banks Foundation for Young Entrepreneurs ‘D.CAMP’ announced on the 28th that they held the representative domestic demo day ‘D-Day’ at the Space Sallim multipurpose hall.

At the demo day held on the 27th, the foundation recruited participating companies under the theme of ‘gap reduction’ including lifestyle, gender, education, generation, region, disability and non-disability, while supporting investment attraction, startup spaces, and providing opportunities for corporate promotion. Teams were selected through document screening and interview evaluations, and a total of seven companies advanced to the finals with a competition rate of 6.2 to 1. In the final round of the demo day, ‘Smatous Korea’ was selected as the winning team.

The winning team, ‘Smatous Korea,’ manufactures home oral diagnostic devices that allow users to easily check and manage their dental condition at home. The diagnostic details generated by the device can be managed through the Smatous dedicated app, enabling anyone to easily monitor changes in their dental condition and decide whether to visit a dentist. ‘Smatous Korea’ is a women-owned company currently residing in Space Sallim.

‘Smatous Korea’ was awarded the Seoul Mayor’s Award, and each of the seven participating teams received a prize of 2 million KRW, opportunities for investment review up to 300 million KRW, and chances to move into startup spaces at Space Sallim, D.CAMP, or Front1. Additionally, they can enjoy various benefits as resident companies of Space Sallim and D.CAMP, including priority participation in corporate growth support programs.

This ‘D-Day’ was held as part of a business agreement signed on March 18 between the Seoul Foundation of Women and Family ‘Space Sallim’ and the Banks Foundation for Young Entrepreneurs ‘D.CAMP’ to support the growth of startups. Kang Hyun-sook, director of Space Sallim at the Seoul Foundation of Women and Family, said, “Space Sallim plans to discover innovative women startups and promote growth support projects such as linking investors, sales channels, and funding,” adding, “We will cooperate with various institutions to create an ecosystem from a gender perspective.”
