Ewha Womans University to Hold '135th Anniversary Ceremony' on the 31st

135th Anniversary Marks the Proclamation of 'Ewha Vision 2030+'

[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Ewha Womans University will hold its '135th Anniversary Ceremony' on the 31st.

The ceremony will be attended by a small number of people including Chairman Jang Myeong-su, President Kim Eun-mi, Alumni Association President Nam Sang-taek, Chaplain Ahn Seon-hee, and award recipients. The event will include long-term service awards for faculty and staff, the presentation of the Proud Ewhaian Award and Ewha Academic Award, and congratulatory performances by professors from Ewha Womans University’s College of Music. To mark its 135th anniversary, Ewha Womans University will also announce the newly established 'Ewha Vision 2030+' and unveil a new slogan selected together with current students and alumni, along with a reading of the vision statement.

President Kim Eun-mi said, "Beyond providing educational opportunities for women, Ewha must cultivate highly competitive female talents through top-level research and innovative education, more than any other university," adding, "We will reaffirm our original mission through insights into the coming era and establish and promote visions and development plans to achieve it."

Following this, Professor Emeritus Jang Pil-hwa of the Department of Women’s Studies and Visiting Chair Professor Choi Jae-chun of the Department of Life Sciences will receive the '19th Proud Ewhaian Award,' while Professor Han Ja-gyeong of the Department of Philosophy, Professor Go Eung-il of the Department of Mathematics, and Professor Ha Heon-ju of the Department of Pharmacy will be awarded the '17th Ewha Academic Award.'

The ceremony will be broadcast live on Ewha Womans University’s YouTube channel and is open for anyone to watch online. After the 135th anniversary ceremony, the 'Alumni Day' event hosted by the Ewha Womans University Alumni Association will be held at the university’s main auditorium starting at 2 p.m.
