Recognition for Contributions to Employment Equality and Work-Life Balance Culture
Opening of Workplace Daycare, Operation of 'Elegant Sick Leave System'
"We Will Strengthen Gender Equal Opportunities and Family-Friendly Management"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] Kim Beom-jun, CEO of Woowa Brothers, the operator of Baedal Minjok, received the Presidential Citation at the '2021 Employment Equality Contribution Awards' hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor on the 26th.
The Employment Equality Contribution Awards are given to individuals and companies who have worked hard to establish employment equality and a work-life balance culture in the industrial field.
CEO Kim was recognized for improving Woowa Brothers' related systems such as personnel, recruitment, compensation, and welfare to create an environment where men and women can work equally and contribute to the culture of work-life balance.
Since his inauguration in March last year, CEO Kim opened an on-site daycare center to reduce childcare burdens and established the 'Woahan Sick Leave System,' which supports up to 50% of salary for up to 90 days for employees who inevitably need leave due to health issues.
As the spread of COVID-19 continued, the company implemented a company-wide work-from-home system and introduced support systems such as work-from-home subsidies and office supplies purchase expenses. They supported internet usage fees, heating costs, and related supplies purchase expenses incurred during remote work.
Additionally, to ensure equal employment opportunities, the company prohibited the inclusion of marital status and family information on resumes during recruitment. The proportion of female employees at Woowa Brothers is relatively high, reaching 40-50% annually. The proportion of female managers at the team leader level or higher has also increased from 26% in 2019 and 27.8% in 2020 to 31% as of last month.
Employees are allowed to autonomously reduce their working hours by two hours per day during pregnancy, and support is provided for postpartum care center fees when the employee or their spouse gives birth. Male employees are granted parental leave as well as separate leave that can be used in case their spouse experiences a miscarriage or stillbirth.
CEO Kim stated, "We will strengthen equal opportunity and family-friendly management, setting an industry example so that our members can continuously create better Baemin services through satisfying workplace experiences."
