[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] ○…Park In-bi (33, KB Financial Group), who recently lost her grandfather, vowed to perform well on the U.S. Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Tour.
At the official press conference for the Bank of Hope Match Play (total prize money $1.5 million) held on the 26th (Korean time) at Shadow Creek Golf Course (par 72, 6,804 yards) in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, she said, "My grandfather passed away yesterday," adding, "He was the one who made me play golf." She continued, "I think my grandfather wanted me to participate in this tournament," and "I want to play well in this tournament to make him proud."
Park In-bi, who said, "Fortunately, I visited my grandfather in Korea last week," described, "Saying goodbye to my grandfather was the saddest moment of my life," but added, "Still, he has gone to a better place and is watching over me from heaven." Park In-bi's late grandfather, Park Byung-jun, suffered from a stroke. When his granddaughter returned home with a gold medal from the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, he personally came to the airport despite being 84 years old at the time.
