[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-ho] On the 25th, Gyeongsangbuk-do reported 9 new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). This is the first time in 47 days since last month’s single-digit daily cases on the 8th (7 cases).


According to Gyeongbuk Province on the 26th, as of midnight, the cumulative confirmed cases in the Gyeongbuk area increased by 9 from the previous day to 4,626 (including 125 imported cases). By region, there were 4 cases in Gimcheon City, 2 in Gyeongsan City, and 1 each in Gyeongju City, Gumi City, and Mungyeong City.


Among the 4 new confirmed cases in Gimcheon City, 2 were contacts of Gimcheon case number 273 confirmed the previous day. The other 2 were also classified as contacts of local confirmed cases, tested, and received positive results.


Among the 2 new confirmed cases in Gyeongsan City, 1 was a contact of Pohang case number 588 confirmed on the 14th and tested positive before release from self-quarantine, and the other was a contact of Gyeongsan case number 1315 confirmed the previous day.


The 1 confirmed case in Gyeongju City is related to the local H Mart, and the confirmed case in Gumi City was a contact of Gumi case number 575 confirmed on the 21st. In Mungyeong City, 1 contact of an Incheon resident confirmed on the 22nd tested positive.


In Gyeongsangbuk-do, 103 people (excluding imported cases) were confirmed positive across various areas over the past week, resulting in a weekly daily average of 14.7 confirmed cases. Currently, 2,097 people are under self-quarantine.
