KAIST President Kwang-Hyung Lee Advises on How to Read the Future in the Digital Transformation Era
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] The Korea International Trade Association (KITA) held the "151st KITA CEO Breakfast Meeting" online on the 26th, presenting ways for Korean companies to predict the future in the era of digital transformation.
On this day, KAIST President Lee Kwang-hyung, who appeared as a speaker to explain "How to Read the Future," said, "To predict an uncertain future more clearly, we need to focus on the seven key drivers that influence the future, called 'STEPPER.'"
STEPPER is an acronym derived from the first letters of seven words: Society, Technology, Environment, Population, Politics, Economy, and Resource. President Lee emphasized that when trying to predict the future, it is more helpful to concretize it according to these seven criteria rather than looking at everything at once for a clearer prediction.
For example, from the technology perspective, one can predict the future trends of technological development and the adoption plans of related technologies by Korean companies, and from the resource perspective, predict the potential for resource utilization by companies and the availability of future resources.
President Lee stated, "Concretizing the future by each criterion will help set more definite goals and strategic execution," and emphasized, "Among the seven elements, the two most important principles that change the future are 'human' and 'technology.' Understanding the market and company members and predicting technological changes are key factors for the long-term survival of companies."
KITA holds the CEO Breakfast Meeting once a month for top executives in the trade industry, providing insights into various fields such as economy, management, and humanities. For annual membership registration and program inquiries, please call the KITA main number.
