Dongjak-gu, Recruiting Participants for Village-Type Shared Office

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Changwoo Lee) is publicly recruiting participants (project teams) for the ‘2021 Neighborhood Bookstore Utilization Village-type Shared Office’ until June 4.

This project is part of the 2021 Dongjak Cooperation Project and was established to revitalize the local economy and create quality jobs by utilizing neighborhood bookstores, which are facing economic difficulties due to the expansion of large and online bookstores and the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, as complex spaces for local jobs and culture.

In April, the district selected Cheongmaek Salon (2nd floor, 161-1 Seodal-ro, Heukseok-dong) as the village-type shared office operation space and is recruiting up to five teams (at least three members per team) preparing for employment or entrepreneurship to carry out the project.

Cheongmaek Salon, once famous as a humanities and social sciences specialized bookstore, has been reborn as a space for communication with people through cultural and exhibition planning, becoming a local landmark.

Eligibility requires at least one member under the age of 39 residing in Dongjak-gu or a team (individual) employed at a company located in the area or having started a business within the last three years.

Specific support includes ▲ competency development support funds up to 360,000 KRW per team per month for information activity expenses, promotion costs, portfolio production costs, etc. ▲ meeting space and office equipment support ▲ dedicated mentor matching and education supporting competency development and project activities, and educational programs tailored to the employment or entrepreneurship preparation stage.

In particular, participants can engage in academic work, meetings, daily tasks, and choose at least one of three derived tasks: ▲ market research by desired employment or entrepreneurship field ▲ industrial issue analysis and related job training ▲ local issue analysis and problem-solving measures.

Youth wishing to participate can submit an application form, created content, or portfolio to the person in charge via email (kidaharu@dongjak.go.kr).

For more details, inquiries can be made to the Job Policy Division.

The district will conduct a comprehensive evaluation based on ▲ specificity of activities ▲ feasibility of the implementation plan ▲ creativity and announce the final selection on June 10.

Yoon Soyeon, head of the Job Policy Division, said, “Through this project, we will support youth facing economic difficulties due to COVID-19 in their employment and entrepreneurship and create jobs suited to changes in the industrial environment and local characteristics.”
