[Asia Economy Reporter Song Hwajeong] Mirae Asset Securities announced on the 24th that Choi Hyun-man, Senior Vice Chairman, received the 26th 'BPW Gold Award' presented by the Business and Professional Women Korea (BPW KOREA) at The Plaza Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul.
BPW KOREA is a non-profit corporation under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, founded in 1968, with a history of 54 years. The BPW Gold Award was established in 1993 and is awarded annually to individuals who have contributed to the advancement of women's status in various fields of society.
Choi Hyun-man, Senior Vice Chairman of Mirae Asset Securities, was recognized for leading corporate social responsibility management with a future-oriented mindset, fostering a women-friendly corporate environment and culture, and producing many female leaders, thereby contributing to women's social participation and status improvement. As of the end of 2020, Mirae Asset Securities has a total of 39 women (12.7%) active among 23 executive officers and 16 PB executives, reflecting the appointment of capable women without discrimination. This proportion has steadily increased from 7.6% at the end of 2017, 11.4% at the end of 2018, and 12.0% at the end of 2019.
Senior Vice Chairman Choi said, "Mirae Asset Securities is now standing shoulder to shoulder with Asia's top-tier investment banks (IBs) and aims to become a global top-tier IB beyond Asia." He added, "In this process, the active participation of prepared women with diverse and outstanding abilities is absolutely necessary." Furthermore, Senior Vice Chairman Choi stated, "We will continue to practice social responsibility management through the non-discriminatory appointment of capable women to executive positions."
