National Assembly Member Choi In-ho Reflects Industry Demands and City Regulation Improvements, Expecting Activation of New Port Hinterlan

Busan City (Mayor Park Hyung-jun) announced on the 22nd that it warmly welcomes the passage of the 'Act on the Designation and Operation of Free Trade Zones' at the National Assembly plenary session on the 21st.
Until now, the industry has raised the need to attract manufacturing and processing companies that can create high added value based on Busan Port's excellent port logistics functions such as cargo handling, transshipment, and storage.
Since 2018, Busan City has proposed institutional improvements to the government so that agricultural and livestock product manufacturing and processing companies capable of exporting high-quality functional processed foods can settle in the Busan New Port Free Trade Zone.
The amendment to the Free Trade Zone Act passed on this day was submitted by National Assembly member Choi In-ho, reflecting industry requests and Busan City's institutional improvement demands, to allow agricultural and livestock product manufacturing and processing companies to settle in free trade zones.
After being originally proposed in the 20th National Assembly and continuous efforts, it has finally borne fruit by passing in the 21st National Assembly.
Busan Mayor Park Hyung-jun said, “We will actively cooperate with related organizations such as the Busan Port Authority to attract investment from promising companies that can create new jobs and high added value in the Busan New Port Free Trade Zone, including the southern hinterland area of Busan New Port scheduled for completion in 2023.”
