[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] The National Credit Union Federation of Korea (NACUFOK) announced on the 21st that it held a briefing session on the home care service project for credit union executives and employees.
The briefing session was conducted by minimizing the number of attendees on-site to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and simultaneously streaming online live.
The home care service project is a service where care workers visit the homes of elderly people aged 65 or older who have difficulty living independently and provide care.
Care workers visit elderly individuals who find it difficult to perform daily activities alone due to senile diseases, supporting various household activities such as bathing and providing lunch and dinner.
One hundred credit unions nationwide participated with 140 executives and employees, sharing the current status and prospects of the home care service project, and discussing the development direction of the project and welfare business models suitable for credit unions in the aging era.
On the day, Seonyeong Lee, director of the Moonchang Credit Union Home Welfare Center and the one-day instructor for the home care service project, said, "Korea's low birthrate and aging population problem is an unavoidable social issue," adding, "I hope this briefing session will be an opportunity to discover welfare business models suitable for an aging society."
Yunsik Kim, chairman of NACUFOK, emphasized, "As a community-based financial cooperative, credit unions are the most suitable organizations to carry out community care services including home care," and added, "Going forward, credit unions will contribute to building community safety nets such as care and nursing and provide various social services."
