New Listing on KOSDAQ Market... Opening Price Formed at Twice the IPO Price
Specialized Semiconductor Sensor Company
The Start of the Green New Deal Begins with Accurate Measurement
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] Samyoung S&C is showing strong performance on its first day listed on the KOSDAQ market.
As of 9:22 AM on the 21st, Samyoung S&C is trading at 27,200 KRW, up 23.64% from the opening price. The market capitalization is approximately 150 billion KRW. The opening price was set at 22,000 KRW, which is 100% higher than the public offering price of 11,000 KRW.
Samyoung S&C was established in July 2000 after spinning off from Samyoung Electronics Industry. The company produces sensors that measure temperature, humidity, fine dust, and gases, as well as products that apply these sensors. It possesses all core personnel, proprietary technology, and mass production facilities to handle the entire process from basic sensor materials, semiconductor wafer fabrication, module packaging, to transmitter finished products. Based on this, it has secured prominent domestic and international clients such as Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, KT, GE, and Ford Motor Company.
SK Securities expects Samyoung S&C to benefit from the growth of the smart sensor market driven by the spread of COVID-19.
Na Seungdoo, a researcher at SK Securities, explained, "Samyoung S&C is a company that develops and manufactures sensors and related products that detect temperature, humidity, fine dust, and gases," adding, "They have succeeded in vertical integration, producing everything from high-precision sensor materials to finished products used across various industrial sectors."
He continued, "Since developing the first generation of the semiconductor-type temperature and humidity sensor, Humichip, in 2009, the company has steadily upgraded its products and expanded the base of its downstream industries," noting, "As of last year, the sales composition consisted of 16% high-precision chip-type temperature and humidity sensors, 31% chip-type temperature and humidity sensors, 43% high-precision automotive components, 6% relative humidity sensors, and 4% dust sensors."
Researcher Na forecasted, "COVID-19 has triggered rapid growth in the smart sensor market," and "As the need for air quality management has emerged, demand for high-precision measurement sensors is increasing not only in industrial applications but also in home appliances."
Furthermore, he stated, "The growth rate of the global sensor market is expected to accelerate even more after COVID-19," adding, "As the words ‘eco-friendly’ and ‘smart’ have become global key themes, they are driving increased demand for high-precision and high-reliability sensors." Researcher Na believes that accurate measurement using high-precision sensors is essential as the first step toward eco-friendliness and smart technologies.
He emphasized, "Samyoung S&C has completed the development of the third-generation Humichip capable of high-precision measurement even in extreme environments," and "mass production is imminent." He also predicted, "It is expected to be applied in electric vehicles, industrial air conditioning facilities, and smart farms," and analyzed, "From the second half of this year, mass production and sales of various new products are planned, so a clear performance growth trend will be confirmed starting next year."
