Enhancing Accessibility for Visually Impaired in Various Civil Complaints... Establishing Advanced On-Tact Leader-Type Administrative and Public Relations System
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jeong Soon-gyun) launched the first electronic braille service for the visually impaired on the homepage among local governments on the 20th.
This service is a system that converts civil complaint information provided by the district, as well as COVID-19 confirmed patients' movement routes, vaccination schedules, and disaster relief fund payment schedules, into electronic braille files.
Visually impaired users can download the files from the homepage and read them by recognizing them with a braille information terminal.
The district planned this project to enhance accessibility for the visually impaired by adding electronic braille to the existing voice conversion service. It makes it easier to check tables or numbers that are difficult to understand by voice alone, and it can protect the personal information of the visually impaired.
The district produced 29 types of ‘Mimiwi Gangnam’ logos reflecting the characteristics of various anniversaries and released them in the ‘Logo Archive.’ The logos will be automatically displayed on the corresponding anniversaries.
‘Gangnam Archive,’ which gathers photos and video materials showing old views of Gangnam held by external organizations as well as the lives of residents, will also be continuously updated.
Jeong Soon-gyun, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, said, “During the 7th term of the elected government, Gangnam-gu directly hired PDs, reporters, publishers, planners, announcers, writers, and programmers, achieving the creation of quality jobs, qualitative and quantitative improvement of content, and budget savings of over 1 billion won. We will continue to focus on establishing advanced administration and promotion systems befitting an ‘Ontact Leader.’”
