'Pressure.'
This refers to tension caused by external or psychological stress. On the course, pressure is especially high when you have an important shot or putt that could decide the outcome. Amateur golfers usually feel pressure when there are OB areas on both sides of a narrow fairway, or when there is water or a bunker in front of the green. Professional golfers feel significant pressure in situations such as downhill short approach shots or putts. Interestingly, psychological pressure can alter swing rhythm and cause excessive force, often leading to a collapse in score. Here are five ways to play better golf under pressure. 1. Don’t be too tense; relax.
2. Focus on positive thoughts rather than negative ones. 3. Take a deep breath. 4. Use positive self-talk to boost your confidence when playing under pressure. 5. Hold the grip lightly-light is right. The more pressure you feel, the tighter you grip, which can ruin your shot.
