'Pohang Missing Nurse' Still Unfound After a Month...Friend Who Last Spoke Says "No Memory"

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Soyoung] A male nurse in his 20s who worked at a large hospital in Pohang has gone missing, and the police are conducting a search operation as his whereabouts remain unknown even after a month since his disappearance.

According to the Pohang Nambu Police Station, Nurse A (28), who worked at a general hospital located in Nam-gu, Pohang, went missing around 3 p.m. on the 7th of last month. A, who left the dormitory where he was residing, was last seen passing by a nearby gas station captured on closed-circuit television (CCTV) before disappearing without a trace.

Two days later, on the 9th of last month, A’s family received a call from the hospital stating, "A has not shown up at the hospital since April 7." They thoroughly searched around A’s residence and friends’ houses but failed to make contact, leading them to report the disappearance to the police.

The police confirmed that the last signal from A’s mobile phone was near the Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) base station, about 2 km away from the location where his last image was captured. Even after his disappearance, calls to A could be connected to a ringing tone, but since around 10 a.m. on the 10th of last month, calls have not connected, and all contact has been completely lost.

Additionally, a review of A’s call records showed a call with friend B just before the disappearance. However, B reportedly told the police during the investigation that he did not recall making a call with A.

The police deployed about 500 personnel to conduct eight search operations centered around A’s disappearance location, but A’s whereabouts remain unknown to this day.

A police official stated, "Considering the CCTV footage and the circumstances at the time, it seems unlikely that A was involved in a crime or was abducted," adding, "We plan to mobilize all investigative resources to find A."

Meanwhile, on the day of his disappearance, A was wearing a black tracksuit, a black hat, and gray Crocs slippers. He is of average build, approximately 174 cm tall and weighing 72 kg.
