The '2021 Jeju Digital Center Conference,' held under the theme "Jeju in the 4th Industrial Revolution Era for a New Leap of Future Jeju," hosted and organized by the Jeju Future Strategy Research Association of the Jeju Special Self-Governing Provincial Council, Jeju Digital Center, and Blockchain Technology Research Institute (CEO Lee Jeong-ryun, hereafter IBCT), successfully concluded.
The event, held at Maison Glad Hotel, was broadcast live in real-time via JIBS Jeju Broadcasting from 2 PM to 4 PM on the 18th.
At this conference, representatives from leading domestic 4th industrial companies, including IBCT, participated in presentations on DID technology demonstrations and blockchain, artificial intelligence (AI), and metaverse, engaging in in-depth discussions on economic growth and sustainable development in the Jeju region.
The event opened with a keynote speech by Lim Ju-hyung, Director of Jeju Digital Center, and a greeting from Assemblyman Kim Hee-hyun, followed by congratulatory remarks from National Assembly member Wi Seong-gon and opening greetings from Kang Du-woong, Director (Jeju Digital Center/International Lawyer).
In the first part of the thematic presentations, the following were delivered: ▲ IBCT’s "Blockchain-based DID Technology Demonstration" ▲ Professor Kang Jang-mook of Far East University’s "Data Quality Assurance Measures for AI Learning Dataset Construction" ▲ Project Group Ander’s "Metaverse and Urban Branding" ▲ Riphan’s "Current Status and Future of the Proptech Industry."
In the second part, invited lectures were given by ▲ Professor Kim Hyung-jung of Korea University Graduate School of Information Security ▲ Chairman Jo In-je of Actner Lab.
IBCT demonstrated the necessity of the next-generation decentralized identity verification service 'DID (Decentralized Identity)' based on LEDGIS, a decentralized ledger system, and showcased the DID technology live on air.
Recently, indiscriminate use of personal information has led to social issues such as personal data leaks and identity theft. The Blockchain Technology Research Institute emphasized the importance of ▲ DID ▲ IDH technologies to address these problems.
IBCT explained that with the adoption of DID technology, individuals can secure the safety of their personal information through selective information provision, while companies can offer more advanced services.
IBCT CEO Lee Jeong-ryun stated, "The mainnet LEDGIS DID is a highly scalable technology with IDH applied," and expressed his ambition, saying, "Starting with this DID technology demonstration, we will integrate the technology into Jeju’s daily life, including vaccine passports, access cards, and financial transactions."
The event was held in strict compliance with government quarantine guidelines for COVID-19 social distancing, including temperature checks and hand sanitizer use for all attendees. The conference video can be rewatched on IBCT’s official YouTube channel, ‘IBCT TV.’
