NongHyup Bank Supports Aircraft Boarding with Biometric Authentication, First in Financial Sector Kwon Jun-hak, President of NH Nonghyup Bank (from the left), Kim Hak-su, President of the Korea Financial Telecommunications and Clearings Institute, and Son Chang-wan, President of Korea Expressway Corporation, are making handprints at Gimpo Airport on the 17th to commemorate the launch of the bio-information joint utilization service.

[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] NH Nonghyup Bank announced on the 18th that it has signed the first biometric information joint utilization agreement in the financial sector with Korea Airports Corporation and will operate a joint utilization service that allows boarding procedures using biometric information without ID verification.

Until now, biometric information registration was only possible at airports. With this joint utilization service, customers who have registered their palm biometric information at Nonghyup Bank can authenticate their biometric information at airports (domestic flights from Gimpo, Gimhae, Jeju) without separate biometric registration or ID verification and board domestic flights.

Customers can register their palm biometric information at a nearby Nonghyup Bank branch through the 'NH Sonhanaro Authentication Service' and use the service after subscribing to 'NH Smart Banking' and installing the Korea Airports Corporation's 'Smart Airport Guide' application (app).

This service is available to individual customers aged 19 and over (excluding minors, foreigners, and domestic non-residents). At branches, customers can authenticate palm vein patterns without a passbook, ID, or card to perform withdrawals, account closures, and issue balance certificates.

Nonghyup Bank will hold a draw to give chicken mobile coupons to 200 customers who subscribe to the authentication service by the end of this year. An event will also be held where the 500,000th subscriber will receive a 1 million KRW agricultural product gift certificate, and the 499,999th and 500,001st subscribers will each receive a lucky golden key (1 don).

President Junhak Kwon of Nonghyup Bank said, “This service, jointly launched by Nonghyup Bank and Korea Airports Corporation, will be a good example of synergy created through cross-industry collaboration,” adding, “We will continue to introduce various lifestyle financial services that provide convenience not only in finance but also in daily life.”
