[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] Jeju Air announced that starting from the 18th, it will launch the ‘Green Traveler’ campaign for customers traveling to Jeju to promote a clean Jeju.
The ‘Green Traveler’ campaign involves distributing eco-friendly biodegradable trash bags produced by Jeju Air to customers traveling to Jeju Island and encouraging participation in eco-friendly travel to protect the pristine environment of Jeju.
Customers who wish to participate can receive biodegradable bags either when boarding Jeju Air flights or at ‘Stage House,’ a ‘JJ Members Partners’ location in Seongsan, Jeju. During their trip, participants are encouraged to take photos of themselves picking up trash or engaging in environmental cleanup activities on Jeju Island and upload them to their personal SNS with the hashtag (#JejuAirGreenTravelerCampaign). Customers who submit photos will be entered into a draw to win prizes such as domestic flight tickets and Jeju Air model airplanes.
This campaign was planned to commemorate Jeju Air being selected as the number one low-cost carrier in the eco-friendly product ‘Green Star’ certification by the Korea Management Registrar (KMR) for three consecutive years.
Additionally, as part of its ESG management, Jeju Air has actively promoted its commitment to eco-friendly management by unveiling a new logo type and wordmark that include Jeju Air’s eco-friendly slogan, ‘Refresh Earth.’ The newly introduced logo type and wordmark will be used in future eco-friendly activities conducted by Jeju Air.
Meanwhile, since 2017, Jeju Air has been conducting the ‘Save the Polar Bears Project,’ an eco-friendly campaign aimed at improving fuel efficiency and reducing greenhouse gases through carbon-reducing flights during aircraft operations. The airline also continues efforts to protect the environment by replacing conventional straws, paper cups, and plastic products used onboard with eco-friendly alternatives.
Jeju Air stated, “We are implementing various campaigns to raise awareness of the importance of the environment and encourage participation in environmental protection among both customers and the company,” adding, “We hope customers can enjoy their travels while also having opportunities to think about the environment through small actions.”
