[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Pulmuone is introducing a high-protein tofu product that allows consumers to easily enjoy tofu, a representative plant-based protein food.
On the 18th, Pulmuone Foods announced the launch of two types of "High-Protein Cube Tofu" (Rosemary Roasting, Basil Roasting), which are tofu seasoned and oven-roasted into bite-sized pieces.
The two types of "High-Protein Cube Tofu" are the fifth plant-based oriented products released since Pulmuone declared itself a plant-based oriented company in March. Previously, Pulmuone had successively launched "Tofu Noodle KIT," "Tofu Bar," "Tofu Tender," and "Tofu Crumble Rice Bowl Sauce" according to its mid- to long-term roadmap for plant-based foods.
The two "Cube Tofu" products are made by seasoning tofu with simple ingredients such as rosemary salt, black pepper, and basil, then oven-roasting it to maximize the original nutrition and chewy texture of tofu. The tofu is shaped into bite-sized cubes for ease of consumption. These products feature small tofu cubes approximately 1.5 cm in length, width, and height, making them the smallest tofu ready products released domestically in Korea. Each package contains about 32 cubes.
Based on one package (100g), the Rosemary Roasting contains 18g of protein, and the Basil Roasting contains 19g of protein, fulfilling 33% and 35% of the daily nutritional intake standards, respectively. All ingredients are plant-based, allowing even strict vegans to consume them without concern. Both types contain 0g cholesterol, making them a healthy choice.
Hong Soyeon, PM at Pulmuone Foods, said, "The new product 'High-Protein Cube Tofu' is designed to let consumers enjoy tofu, which is mainly used in cooking or as a side dish, conveniently as a snack anytime and anywhere." She added, "As a leading plant-based oriented company, Pulmuone will continue to introduce diverse plant-based protein foods to satisfy both consumers' health and taste preferences."
