Seoul Subway Line 7 Incheon Seoknam Extension Opens on the 22nd Seoul Metropolitan Subway Line 7 Seoknam Extension Project Route Map.

[Asia Economy Reporter Kangwook Cho] The Incheon Seoknam extension of Seoul Subway Line 7 will open on the 22nd, 6 years and 9 months after construction began.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 18th that the Seoknam extension of Seoul Subway Line 7, connecting Bupyeong-gu Office Station and Seoknam Station in Incheon, has completed comprehensive railway testing and will open on the 22nd.

The Seoknam extension of Line 7 is a total length of 4.165 km, running from the existing terminal station Bupyeong-gu Office Station (Galsan-dong, Incheon) through Sangok Station to Seoknam Station (Seoknam-dong, Incheon).

The Seoknam extension began construction in September 2014 and will open after 6 years and 9 months. The total project cost was 374.4 billion KRW (224.6 billion KRW from the national government, 149.8 billion KRW from local government).

With the opening of this line, Incheon Line 1 (Bupyeong-gu Office Station) and Incheon Line 2 (Seoknam Station), which run north-south, will be connected in an H-shaped form, establishing a transfer system between Incheon Lines 1 and 2. Additionally, passengers transferring to Line 2 can travel quickly and conveniently to areas such as Gangnam in Seoul via Seoknam Station.

The Seoknam extension will operate with the same 8-car heavy rail trains as the existing Line 7. During peak hours, trains will run every 6 minutes, and every 12 minutes during off-peak hours. The first train will depart from Seoknam Station at 5:28 AM on the 22nd of this month.

Fares using transportation cards will be the same as the existing subway fares: 1,250 KRW for adults, 720 KRW for teenagers, and 450 KRW for children.

The opening ceremony will be held simultaneously at Sangok Station and Seoknam Station at 2 PM on the 21st.

Park Byung-seok, Director of Metropolitan Facility Operations at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s Metropolitan Transportation Committee, said, "With this extension opening, accessibility to Seoul will improve, enhancing transportation conditions for Incheon citizens and greatly contributing to the revitalization of the local economy."
