[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service announced on the 18th that it will deploy about 1,100 employees from its headquarters and branches during the busy farming season in May and June to assist with farm labor shortages.


As of the 14th, 479 employees of the agency have participated in 37 sessions of rural labor assistance in cities and counties. On the 13th, about 20 headquarters employees helped with thinning plum and peach fruits in Yanggak Jadu Village, Gimcheon City, Gyeongsangbuk-do.


Until the end of next month, the agency will continue to provide labor assistance to farms facing labor shortages through its 9 provincial offices and 121 city and county offices nationwide.


Lee Joo-myung, Director of the agency, stated, "All employees of the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service, as an on-site agricultural administration agency connected to agricultural and rural fields, will do their best to support farms experiencing labor shortages during the farming season."
