Seoul City Central District 50 Plus Center Publishes Life Second Act Stories '50+ Storybook'

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government's Downtown 50 Plus Center announced on the 18th that it will publish the '50+ Storybook,' which captures the preparation process and growth of 15 individuals from the 50+ generation after retirement.

The newly published '50+ Storybook' is a book that documents cases of turning 'favorite activities into jobs' among 8,687 users who utilized the 50 Plus Center in 2020. This is the fourth edition since the first publication in 2016.

Stories of the 50+ generation who transformed their desired post-50 careers into jobs at the 50 Plus Center are included in the '50+ Storybook,' featuring individuals who transitioned from former radio writers to communication research institute representatives, from trading business to YouTubers, from journalists to cultural interpreters, from public officials to river ecology conservation activists, from corporate executives to foreign language volunteer activists.

The fourth edition of the '50+ Storybook' published this year, along with other story series, can be accessed as e-books on the Seoul 50 Plus Portal.

Kim Seon-soon, Director of Welfare Policy at Seoul City, said, “Seoul established the Downtown 50 Plus Center to improve accessibility so that the 50+ generation can achieve what they desire within their local communities. We hope the '50+ Storybook' will serve as a guide for citizens facing and preparing for a turning point in life after 50.”
