According to Gwangju Metropolitan City's quarantine authorities on the 17th, last month on the 28th, Mr. A (85) received his second Pfizer vaccine dose at the Seo-gu Vaccination Center.
During the waiting period to monitor for adverse reactions, no issues were found, and Mr. A left the vaccination center. However, suffering from dementia, he re-entered the vaccination center and received another vaccine dose about 30 minutes after the first.
During the verification process, the vaccination status should have been confirmed, but only his identity was checked before allowing Mr. A inside.
After confirming this fact and reporting it to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, the authorities monitored for abnormal signs but reported no problems, according to the quarantine authorities.
Currently, Mr. A is known to be hospitalized and receiving treatment for symptoms such as pneumonia.
A quarantine official stated, “We are investigating whether these symptoms were caused by the overdose.”
