Support for Prospective Entrepreneurs and Startups
[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] The Korea Communications Commission and the Korea Internet & Security Agency announced on the 17th that they are recruiting prospective entrepreneurs and startups to participate in the 'Location Information Excellent Business Model Discovery Project' to discover outstanding location-based services that will lead the non-face-to-face society.
This support project is divided into two areas: the 'Location-Based Service Business Support' field, which provides commercialization support such as patents, applications, marketing, and promotion for those selected as excellent business models, and the 'Cloud Infrastructure Support' field, which offers support for cloud-based software development and testing environments.
Any startup or small business preparing to commercialize or commercializing location-based services (LBS) can apply for this project. Online applications are open from today (the 17th) until the 30th of next month. However, businesses designated as mutual investment-restricted business groups (large corporations) under the Fair Trade Act are restricted from participating in the contest.
In particular, this year, to provide more opportunities to startups with excellent location information business models, the number of supported location-based service businesses has been expanded from 20 to 25. Support for domestic and international market access activities and marketing and promotion in a non-face-to-face online manner has been strengthened.
Chairman Sanghyuk Han said, "With the advent of the 4th Industrial Revolution and the non-face-to-face era, location information is emerging as a key element creating new markets across industries such as autonomous driving and the Internet of Things (IoT)," adding, "We will actively support startups and small businesses with excellent location-based business models to create new markets in various fields."
