According to Gyeongbuk Province on the 17th, as of midnight, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in the Gyeongbuk area increased by 27 from the previous day to 4,474 (including 121 imported cases). By region, confirmed cases were 11 in Gyeongju, 6 in Gimcheon, 3 in Pohang, 2 each in Yeongdeok County and Chilgok County, and 1 each in Gumi, Sangju, and Gyeongsan.
Among the 11 new confirmed cases in Gyeongju, 5 are employees of Homeplus Gyeongju branch (4 in the food department, 1 in the electronics corner). On the previous day, the 15th, one employee from the meat section at Homeplus was confirmed positive. Three other confirmed cases in Gyeongju city are villagers related to Gyeongju case number 295 confirmed on the 1st, and the remaining 3 are contacts of prior confirmed cases.
Among the 6 new confirmed cases in Gimcheon, 3 are related to a cluster infection at a senior facility, and another 1 is related to a vineyard greenhouse. One more is a contact of a prior confirmed case, and the remaining 1 has an unknown infection route.
The 3 new confirmed cases in Pohang are contacts of prior confirmed cases, and the 2 confirmed cases in Yeongdeok County are contacts of Uljin case number 13 confirmed on the 3rd, who tested positive before release from self-quarantine.
Among the 2 new confirmed cases in Chilgok County, 1 has an unknown infection route, and the other is a contact of Chilgok case number 140 confirmed on the 16th. The confirmed case in Gumi is a family member of Gumi case number 544 confirmed on the 4th.
The confirmed cases in Sangju and Gyeongsan, one each, have unknown infection routes.
In Gyeongsangbuk-do, 135 people (excluding imported cases) tested positive across various regions over the past week, resulting in a weekly daily average of 19.3 confirmed cases. Currently, 2,149 people are under self-quarantine.
