Operation of Monitoring Team for Collecting Basic Data on Innovation Education Project Evaluation and Discovering Best Practices... Composed of Local Residents, Parents, and Education Officials... Checking Innovation Education Operation Status and Gathering Opinions
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yeongdeungpo-gu (Mayor Chae Hyun-il) announced that it has newly formed the monitoring group "Pulkkot Support Group" to collect basic data for evaluating the 2021 Yeongdeungpo Innovation Education District projects and to lead the discovery of excellent innovation education cases.
In April, the district selected 10 members of the Pulkkot Support Group, who have a deep interest in the Innovation Education District and will perform roles such as project monitoring and collecting field opinions.
The Pulkkot Support Group, composed of local residents, parents, and education institution officials, will start full-scale activities in teams of two from June.
The name "Pulkkot Support Group" is derived from a line in the poem "Pulkkot" by poet Na Tae-ju, meaning that just as one must look closely to see the beauty and love something for a long time, the group hopes to carefully observe the Innovation Education District projects and encourage each other to grow.
Until the end of this year, the Pulkkot Support Group will engage in various activities such as inspecting the operation status of 20 "Yeongdeungpo-style Village After-school" spaces and 50 programs, regional specialized cultural and artistic programs at 20 institutions and spaces linked to the middle school free semester career art experience, supporting youth autonomous activities connected to the community, and monitoring the operation of Innovation Education District club activities, listening to participants' opinions, discovering excellent cases, and proposing improvements.
To strengthen the monitoring group's capabilities and ensure effective project operation, the district is conducting preliminary training including "Me and Innovation Education, Finding Monitoring Elements, Understanding Innovation Education I," "Understanding and Direction of Innovation Education District Monitoring, Understanding Innovation Education II," "Reality of Monitoring Planning, Survey Form and Report Writing," and "Monitoring Practice," and plans to hold mid-term workshops and performance report meetings.
As this is the first time the district has organized a private-sector-led monitoring activity, it expects that the passionate participation and activities of the monitoring personnel will greatly help build mature governance and solidify the substance of the projects.
The Yeongdeungpo Innovation Education District aims to create a "village and school where no child is left behind and everyone moves forward together," supporting and revitalizing school-village education community activities so that children and youth can grow healthily as agents of their own lives.
As a result, it received a comprehensive evaluation from the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education's "Seoul-type Innovation Education District Central Evaluation Team," stating that it is "operated so excellently that it can serve as a model for other autonomous districts," and achieved the highest ratings by performance indicators in 2019-2020.
Chae Hyun-il, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, said, "Through the activities of the Pulkkot Support Group, the voices from the field will be vividly reflected, leading to realistic project operation and improvements," and added, "We will continue to work hard to build an education community based on public-private-academic governance and utilize excellent educational infrastructure in the region to make Yeongdeungpo an 'education city where dreams come true.'"
