'Face of Seoul' Recommended... Up to 10 Selected Through Two Selection Committee Public Reviews
6th Edition This Year, Honoring Seoul Citizens and Organizations with Significant Contributions to City Development and Citizen Happiness
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] On the 17th, Seoul City announced that it is accepting nominations for candidates to be inducted into the "Seoul Metropolitan Honor Hall" to honor citizens and organizations who have made significant contributions to the development of city administration and the enhancement of citizen happiness.
Now in its 6th year, the Seoul Metropolitan Honor Hall was established in 2016 to honor citizens who have made great contributions to the development of Seoul city administration, sharing, and donations, while also encouraging citizen participation in city affairs across various fields.
It is located on the wall of the underground passage connecting City Hall Station on Subway Line 1 to the Citizen Hall, making it easily accessible to citizens and suitable for long-term exhibition. In 2021, the "Face of Seoul," which will warm and fill the hearts of Seoul citizens with happiness, is also scheduled to be inducted here.
Seoul City will accept nominations for inductee candidates for 39 days until June 25. Nomination targets include citizens and organizations who have made significant contributions to the development of Seoul and the enhancement of citizen happiness, regardless of fields such as sharing and donations, volunteering, COVID-19 response, and job creation.
Nominators include heads of Seoul City offices, bureaus, and departments, district mayors, and general Seoul citizens (organizations). When general Seoul citizens (organizations) find and nominate unsung heroes, a recommendation letter signed by at least 10 citizens aged 19 or older who are not from the same household must be submitted along with the prescribed nomination form.
After on-site inspections by the City Audit Officer and two rounds of merit reviews by the selection committee, up to 10 inductees will be selected. The final selection results will be announced in September, and the induction ceremony is planned to be held in November, considering the COVID-19 spread situation.
Kim Sang-han, Director of the Seoul City Administration Bureau, said, "We hope that you will actively recommend candidates for induction so that the achievements of outstanding citizens who quietly work for others in unseen places and dedicate themselves to the safety of Seoul citizens during national disasters such as COVID-19 can be widely known and serve as examples."
