[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] Kim Ki-hyun, Acting Leader of the People Power Party and Floor Leader, asserted that the issue of the distribution of the Chairmanship of the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee must be resolved before holding the confirmation hearing for Prosecutor General nominee Kim Oh-soo.
On the 16th, Kim held a press briefing at the National Assembly and said, "Currently, the issue of the distribution of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee Chairmanship is also in a state of suspension," adding, "The structure to discuss the confirmation hearing for Prosecutor General nominee Kim is not in place."
He emphasized, "The issue of the standing committee chairmanships, including the Legislation and Judiciary Committee Chairmanship, must be finalized before proceeding with the next steps."
He also criticized the ruling party's attitude, saying, "They are still showing off their power and trying to enforce everything based on their number of seats," and warned, "If the ruling party continues to lead the political situation in such a manner, they will face public anger."
Regarding nominee Kim, he stated, "Our opinion is that he is a very inappropriate figure with political bias, whose political neutrality is highly questionable, making him an unsuitable appointment."
On the same day, Kim also pointed out problems with personnel appointments during the Moon Jae-in administration. He said, "Despite the opposition from the main opposition party and public opinion against it, President Moon appointed unqualified candidates for Prime Minister and ministers. I see this as a public declaration of one-way governance for the remaining year," adding, "It is only proper to immediately dismiss the personnel chief and the entire personnel line of the Blue House."
