"Local Supermarkets, Operate Unmanned with Confidence"…SoginGong-KISA Business Agreement

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] A foundation is being established to safely operate neighborhood supermarkets unmanned by utilizing various smart devices.

The Small Enterprise and Market Service (SEMAS) signed an agreement on the 14th with the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) to strengthen security for the 'Smart Supermarket Development Project' targeting neighborhood supermarkets.

This agreement was prepared to enhance the security of systems such as equipment installed in neighborhood supermarkets through the Smart Supermarket Development Project, aiming to spread a safe unmanned retail environment.

The Smart Supermarket Development Project is a program that supports smart technologies such as access authentication devices, unmanned checkout counters, and security equipment to enable 24-hour unmanned operation in neighborhood supermarkets. It responds to consumer trends favoring contactless transactions after COVID-19, improves the quality of life for store owners, and allows additional sales during late-night hours.

SEMAS plans to cooperate to improve vulnerabilities in smart (unmanned) equipment to create a safe unmanned business environment while encouraging information security companies to participate in the unmanned service market.

KISA will conduct preemptive penetration testing and security diagnostics on smart equipment to block security threats in advance and provide multifaceted support such as consulting to enhance information security levels.

Cho Bong-hwan, Director of SEMAS, stated, "The two organizations will cooperate so that small business owners can operate with peace of mind against security threats that may arise due to digital expansion."
