Gwangju City to Operate Special Quarantine Inspection Week Starting from the 15th

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 14th that it will operate a special COVID-19 quarantine inspection period for major vulnerable facilities such as entertainment establishments from the 15th to the 21st.

This inspection is conducted to block local spread as sporadic group infections of COVID-19 continue through various routes such as schools, entertainment establishments, call centers, churches, family and acquaintances, and coworkers.

During the special inspection period, Gwangju City will focus its efforts on intensively checking compliance with quarantine rules and plans to impose strict administrative measures by applying a one-strike-out policy with a zero-tolerance principle in case of violations.

In particular, on the 12th, an administrative order for COVID-19 diagnostic testing (from May 12 to 16) was issued to business owners and workers of entertainment pubs, karaoke bars, singing practice rooms, and entertainment hostess introduction businesses.

Along with this, special guidance and inspections will be conducted jointly with related organizations such as the city, district offices, and police on entertainment facilities, schools at all levels, academies and private institutes, study cafes, and call centers.

Yoon Geon-yeol, head of the Social Disaster Division of the city, said, “The recent spread of COVID-19 is in a serious situation,” and added, “We hope that people will refrain from family gatherings and outings, maintain vigilance, and strictly follow quarantine rules.”
